Reminder – Free Meals for all KIPPsters and Upcoming Voter Registration Deadline

Welcome back KIPP Texas Families!

I hope you had the opportunity to enjoy your long weekend with your loved ones. We hope your KIPPsters are energized and ready for the third week of school like we are! As I observed virtual classrooms last week, I was inspired by the warmth and energy from teachers and KIPPsters alike. Students have been working so hard to learn and adapt to the new learning environment and our teachers have been working so hard to create warm, welcoming learning environments, while also making adjustments along the way. Thank you for your partnership as we continue to work together to ensure our KIPPsters have the skills and confidence to succeed.

In-person Academies

A couple of weeks ago, I shared that KIPP Texas will be hosting a small group of KIPPsters in some schools for in-person Academies from September 21 to October 9. The Academies will focus on a small group of our 9th graders who could benefit from additional transition time. If your child is eligible to participate in these Academies, we will contact you directly to ask if you would like your child to join.

Free Meals*

Great news! KIPP Texas is still offering free breakfast and lunch to all registered KIPPsters! Please visit the Grab & Go meal page on our website to see the times, free meal pick-up location for your school, and for more information.

*If your child attends one of our new schools, please complete a meal application first, if you haven’t already done so. The application process will determine the cost of the meals – free, reduced price, or full price.

Voter registration deadline – October 5

The October 5 deadline to register to vote is less than a month away!

Civic participation is deeply important to us as an organization, and we encourage you to stay involved. Here are a few simple steps:

1. Visit or text KIPP to 56005 to be sure you are registered.

2. Make a plan to vote! Early voting in Texas runs from October 13 to October 30, and election day is Tuesday, November 3. All Little and Big KIPPsters will be released early on November 3 to give you time to vote.

3. Want to help to get more Big KIPPsters registered to vote? Reach out to  Addie Gomez, Deputy Chief of Advocacy, to learn about this fun opportunity!

4. We want to share your voting story! Will you be voting for the first time in the upcoming Presidential election? Do you know any students who are excited to vote for the first time? Contact Noah Sigler to share your stories!

Thank you once again for your partnership as we work together to make this the best school year yet!

With gratitude,

Sehba Ali
