Dear KIPP Texas Families,
Last week was a historic one for our country and for humanity. As I peeked into classrooms and listened to KIPPsters talk about civic engagement, representation, unity, and justice, I am so deeply hopeful for better tomorrows. Our KIPPsters shared their visions of a better country and a better world, and they shared their dreams for taking our country’s highest seats of office and making change. My own daughter is on the search for Madame Vice-President’s new email address so that she can write to her because she looks up to her and sees herself in her. To our KIPPsters, to our children, the possibilities are real. We feel so privileged to work for our country’s future leaders – your children.
Method of Learning Survey – Feb. 1 – 8
On February 1, you will receive the Method of Learning survey for the school year’s fourth quarter. This survey is your opportunity to select your child’s method of learning for the last instructional cycle of the school year.
Here are the two options:
- Option 1: 100% online learning, five-days-a week. This would continue virtual learning for students for the fourth nine week instructional cycle if parents opt into this method.
- Option 2: 100% in-person learning five-days-a-week in a classroom in a school building on our campus.
Every family will have to complete the Method of Learning survey in SchoolMint (https://kipptexas.schoolmint.net/signin) for the fourth nine-week instructional cycle even though you completed three previous surveys earlier this year.
Families who do not make a choice for their KIPPster’s method of learning by February 8 will remain in the current (third nine-week instructional cycle) method of learning choice for the upcoming instructional cycle. Also, if we don’t receive your response by the deadline, we cannot guarantee bus transportation.
In-Person KIPPsters Should Bring Chromebooks Home Daily
As a reminder, if your KIPPster is learning in-person, they will be asked to take their KIPP Texas Chromebook / computer (and charger) home with them every day and bring them back to school daily.
In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID, we may change an individual student’s schedule from in-person to virtual if they are a close contact or are COVID positive; sometimes, we may ask a class or school to stay home due to a classroom’s or school’s disinfecting process, and if our KIPPsters don’t have their Chromebooks / computers and chargers with them, they won’t have access to their virtual classes at home.
Thank you in advance for reminding your KIPPster to bring home and take back their Chromebook / computer and charger daily.
