Dear KIPP Texas-Houston Families,
KIPP Texas Public Schools has been committed to preventive safety measures against COVID-19 to help keep our Little and Big KIPPsters, our families and our community safe. We are excited to announce two community partnerships that will help us continue our efforts through offering free COVID-19 vaccines for our entire KIPP Texas-Houston community which includes employees, families, and KIPPsters 16 and older. Students younger than 18 require parental consent.
KIPP Texas-Houston is proud to partner with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center to offer free COVID-19 vaccinations, exclusive to KIPPSters, at various MD Anderson vaccine hubs in the Houston area starting mid-April. To participate in this vaccine opportunity, you must register by midnight on April 11 to join the MD Anderson waitlist. Spots are filling up quickly!
Legacy Community Health
Starting in April, Legacy Community Health, KIPP Texas’ on-site healthcare provider, will offer the Pfizer vaccine at one of KIPP Texas Houston campuses. More information will soon be provided for registration and location.
There is growing evidence that teens are more likely to transmit COVID-19. A Centers for Disease and Control Prevention (CDC) report found the rate of COVID-19 among teens 12 to 17 years old was approximately two times higher than in children ages 5 to 11. Additionally, CDC research indicates that vaccines are one of the tools we have to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Vaccines work with your body’s natural defenses so your body will be ready to fight the virus. Visit the CDC website for more information about the COVID-19 vaccine.
Our first responsibility as an organization is the safety of our Little and Big KIPPsters and our community. While the vaccination is not mandatory, we want to support our KIPP Texas-Houston family’s health however we can.
We thank you for your cooperation!
