KIPP Texas celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week May 3-7

We love our teachers. Time and time again teachers have shown their passion for our students and their resilience in the face of challenge after challenge. During the pandemic, our teachers continue to put our students first. Our teachers express a love of teaching and a commitment to students’ success. They have shown tremendous flexibility with giving grace for assignments, zooming with small groups and one-on-one, and personally delivering laptops and hot spots to student homes.

Our teachers spend hours before and after school, preparing lectures, assignments, and projects for class. Before, during and after school our teachers listen, advise, and mentor students. We recognize that teaching goes beyond these day-in-and-day-out activities in the countless moments when we saw our teachers go beyond the call of duty.

At KIPP Texas, it’s not unusual to find teachers who work late to make themselves available to Little KIPPsters and parents who need them. They take calls at all times of the day—evening, night, and weekends. They are in constant communication via text and email with parents and guardians. If a student is missing online or in-person, they call to check on them. We have witnessed teachers rise together to bring joy, care, and rigor into our classrooms, both virtual and in-person.

American historian Henry Adams said, “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” The future development of a nation truly lies in the hands of good teachers.

As we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week May 3-7, we are honored to recognize the ingenuity, creativity, and care that teachers are bringing to the classrooms, to our families, and our communities. We invite you to share in the celebration by following our Facebook and Instagram posts. We love our teachers.
