KIPP Texas Public School’s Athletics team was eager to kick off the fall sports season. However, the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to ensure strict safety protocols for players, coaches and families have led to the decision to forgo the fall athletic season and gear up for winter sports. Over the next few weeks, our Athletics team will undergo significant training on procedures and processes aligned to our main priority – safety!
While all agree the benefits sports bring to students through socialization, relationships, and connections with peers and adults, we want to focus on getting our school restart and safety protocols right. We understand that our students may be disappointed at this decision, and we encourage all athletes to continue to exercise, share workouts with teammates, and get their families involved in practicing and preparing for the winter season.
Athletics will restart on November 1 and coaches will meet with players beginning the last week of October to practice safety procedures and prepare for the beginning of winter sports season.
In the meantime, students may have the opportunity to participate in:
- Strength and Conditioning
- Inter-squad Scrimmages
- Open Gym
Please check with your campus athletic director to see what sports are available at your school.
We look forward to resuming all sports on November 1.
