KIPP Texas-Houston schools closed August 26 -27

Dear KIPP Texas-Houston Families,

The safety of our KIPPsters and Team & Family is our top priority. We have been in contact with local and state officials and monitoring the National Weather Service as Hurricane Laura heads towards the Gulf Coast. To ensure our students, families, and staff have the ability to plan and stay safe from the effects of the storm, we will close all KIPP Texas-Houston schools on Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27. On Thursday, August 27, after we have been able to fully evaluate the damage from the storm, we will provide an update to all families by 2 p.m. if we will reopen on Friday, August 28.

As a result of this closure we will cancel the following activities:

  • All online learning will be cancelled for the two days as school will be closed.
  • All Grab & Go curbside meal distribution will not take place on Wednesday and Thursday. By 2 p.m. Thursday, we will evaluate if meal service will take place on Friday.
  • Tech distribution scheduled for Wednesday, August 26 is cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date.

We will continue to provide updates via social media, our website, and SchoolMessenger. If you have not signed up for the new SchoolMessenger phone app, we encourage you to opt-in now. Click this link to learn how.

We care deeply about our KIPPsters and your family. You can learn more about hurricane preparedness by clicking this link.

Please be safe and we look forward to sharing more updates on Thursday.

With gratitude,
