KIPP Texas will continue requiring all students, staff, and visitors to wear masks

Dear KIPP Texas Families,

I hope you’ve had a terrific Tuesday!

Earlier today, Governor Abbott rescinded the state-wide mandate requiring all Texans to wear masks in public, effective March 10, 2021. I want to be clear, KIPP Texas firmly believes that wearing masks (along with other health and safety practices such as washing and disinfecting our hands, and maintaining social distance whenever possible), particularly in a school setting, mitigates the spread of COVID-19.

As such, KIPP Texas will continue requiring all KIPPsters, staff, and visitors on our campuses to wear masks.

All Little and Big KIPPsters should continue to practice all COVID-mitigating health and safety practices, as outlined in our Back-to-School Guide, including (but not limited to) wearing a face covering over our mouth and nose at all times, except when eating or drinking.

At this time, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) has not announced a change to its health and safety guidance for public schools.

Thank you for your continued support in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 in our schools and in our communities.

With gratitude,

Sehba Ali
KIPP Texas Public Schools CEO
