Dear KIPP Texas Families,
Just one week, that’s roughly 10,080 minutes, if you’re counting, until we get to welcome our KIPPsters back to school or to school for the first time! This will be my 22nd first day of school, and I am just as excited to see our KIPPsters as I was to meet my students on my very first, first day of school. Our teachers and staff have been preparing all summer for this moment, and we just can’t wait! We are committed to creating joyful, academically excellent schools whether school is online or in-person. We know this year will be different than others, but we are ready to welcome your KIPPster with a smile on Monday, August 24.
Celebrating Back to School
Help us spread joy across all our schools! Please use #MyKIPPTexas when posting your back-to-school pictures and videos on social media. We have created these signs you can print out to celebrate the start of school. Here’s mine as an example. I can’t wait to see all of yours!
Grab & Go Curbside Meals
Starting Monday, August 24, our Grab & Go curbside meal service will begin again specifically for KIPPsters. Our website has updates on schedules and the process for curbside Grab & Go meals at each campus starting again next week.
Academic Calendar
We wanted to reshare our new academic calendars in a printable form for easy access. Thank you for being flexible and nimble, and for extending us grace as we adjust throughout this year. You can find the calendars for each region on our website here: KIPP Texas-Austin, KIPP Texas-DFW, KIPP Texas-Houston, and KIPP Texas-San Antonio.
SchoolMessenger
KIPP Texas is using a new statewide communication system called SchoolMessenger. This platform will allow us to contact KIPPsters and their families quickly with events, school closings, safety alerts, and more important information through both email and text. You must opt-in to get these messages via text. The great news is that it takes less than 10 seconds to sign-up by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587! Please opt-in by August 24 so you can be updated quickly on important information throughout the year.
