KIPP Texas Families,
The first weeks of school set the foundation for the year, and we’re committed to building a positive academic culture so that every student can thrive in every school, every day.
This September is Attendance Awareness Month, and we want to see your child at school every day, ready to build upon their current knowledge and continue their academic gains.
We are dedicated to creating a rigorous and joyful learning environment that supports every Little KIPPster’s long-term success. This means setting and maintaining high academic standards and ensuring that every Little KIPPster has the support and resources they need to thrive and graduate high school prepared for college, career, and beyond.

September is Attendance Awareness Month 📅
Every day counts at KIPP Texas, and we’re committed to helping every student reach their full potential. Consistent attendance is key to academic success, so our goal is that each student misses no more than 4 days of school all year. We can work together to keep our Little KIPPsters on track!
How you can help:
- Make attendance a priority for your family.
- Talk to your child about what they’re learning in school and encourage them to engage with their peers.
- Communicate with your school when you know your child will be absent.
- Set daily routines that include plenty of sleep and getting to school on time.
Together, we can ensure your Little KIPPster’s success and make this school year the best one yet!
Organizational Health Initiative
KIPP Texas is undergoing a strategic realignment to ensure long-term sustainability and excellence across our school system. In September 2025, we announced a recommendation will be made to the KIPP Texas Board of Directors to close seven schools across three campuses in Austin and San Antonio at the end of this school year. These campuses include:
- Commerce (San Antonio): KIPP Un Mundo Primary, KIPP Camino Academy
- Austin Ridge (Austin): KIPP Alegria Primary, KIPP Academy of Arts & Letters
- Austin South (Austin): KIPP Obras, KIPP Beacon Prep, KIPP Brave
This recommendation is part of a broader statewide effort to improve operational sustainability, respond to shifting enrollment trends, and ensure every student has access to a high-quality, well-resourced educational environment.
If approved at the December 2025 Board Meeting, these changes will take effect beginning in the 2026–2027 school year.

We’re proud to be recognized in the Houston Chronicle as one of the most improved school districts in the Houston area! According to the latest TEA A–F ratings, KIPP Texas saw an impressive 11-point increase over two years — earning a solid B rating in 2025.
