This week, U.S. News & World Report released the rankings of the best-performing elementary and middle schools in the country. We are so proud that KIPP Texas schools received recognition: 14 of our schools were named among the best in the state! This year, more than 79,000 pre-K, elementary, and middle schools across the country were evaluated on student performance in mathematics, reading, and language arts.
The KIPP Texas – Houston elementary schools ranked among the top 40% in the state include:

- KIPP Unity Primary is the 5th-ranked charter elementary school in Houston and the 32nd in the state of Texas
- KIPP CONNECT Primary has been ranked in the top 10 charter elementary schools in Houston for the second year in a row
- KIPP Sharp Preparatory is the 8th-ranked charter elementary school in Houston
- KIPP Shine Preparatory is the 12th-ranked charter elementary school in Houston
- KIPP Explore Academy is the 16th-ranked charter elementary school in Houston
- KIPP Journey Primary is the 2nd-ranked charter elementary school in Sugar Land

- KIPP Academy Middle is the 16th-ranked charter middle school in Houston

- KIPP Spirit College Preparatory has been ranked as a top 50 charter middle school in Houston for the past two years

The 2025 Best Elementary and Best Middle Schools rankings are based on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education. For district-level rankings, at least two of the top-performing schools must rank in the top 75% of the overall elementary or middle school rankings to qualify for district-level recognition.
