Back to School

We are getting ready for the new school year and want to be sure you have everything you need to start the year strong!

The first day of school is August 16. We can’t wait to see our KIPPsters in person!

We know firsthand that the widespread use of face coverings worn properly is a crucial step in preventing the spread of COVID on our campuses.

Effective November 17, all staff and students must wear a mask at all times when on a KIPP campus, office, or school bus. #MaskUpForKIPPsters

School Communication

School Messenger
KIPP Texas uses SchoolMessenger, a statewide communications system to send text messages with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts and more.

Please sign up for this free service (standard message and data rates may apply) by texting “Y” or “Yes” to 67587. You can also opt out of these messages at any time by simply replying “Stop” to one of our messages.

You can read more details here.

School Communications
Your KIPPster’s school will reach out to the email or phone number you have provided with specific information about how they will communicate with you throughout the year. Some schools use email newsletters, or apps such as “Flyer Connect”, and other methods to communicate regularly.

Please contact your school if you need to update your email or phone number so that we can ensure you receive all family communications.

Health & Safety

FREE breakfast will be served “Grab n’ Go” style to every Little KIPPster along with FREE lunch. All KIPPsters automatically qualify for FREE breakfast and lunch. Additional portions may be purchased. Meals will be consumed either in the classroom or the cafeteria, depending on school operations.

Meal menus will be provided and communicated by your KIPPster’s school throughout the year.

We are committed to bridging the digital divide by providing KIPPsters with the tools and technology to enhance learning. We will continue to collect any KIPP devices that were not returned at the end of last school year so we can refresh, inventory, clean, inspect, and distribute to our KIPPsters this fall. If you find that you still have a KIPP Chromebook, please send it with your child on the first day of school.

Bus Transportation

Families who have requested their free bus transportation information will receive it starting August 1. These details will include your KIPPster’s bus route, location, pick up and drop off times.

If you do not receive your child’s bus information but the week before the first day of school, please contact your school.

Firstview – Track your KIPPsters Bus
This year, KIPP Texas families who utilize our transportation services can register for the FirstView app that provides real-time tracking, estimated time of arrival, schedule changes, and more for our bus routes. Simply register through the FirstView app, which can be accessed from any smartphone or desktop.

Health and Safety on Buses
Because we anticipate nearly full buses this year, there will not be a social distancing on the bus. Effective September 8, all bus riders must wear a mask. KIPP Texas will provide masks for any student without one.

We want our KIPPsters to feel and look their best! It is KIPP’s policy that all students wear the appropriate uniform based on their school’s requirements.
