Celebrating Excellence: Eight KIPP Texas Schools Make the AP Honor Roll!

We’re thrilled to announce that eight KIPP Texas high schools in Austin, Houston, and San Antonio have been recognized on the College Board’s prestigious 2023-2024 AP Honor Roll! This remarkable achievement reflects our schools’ dedication to providing rigorous, college-preparatory education that prepares KIPPsters for college and beyond.

The AP School Honor Roll celebrates schools that broaden access to Advanced Placement® (AP) programs while delivering meaningful results for students. Schools earn this recognition based on criteria that reflect a commitment to strengthening college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and enhancing college readiness. The AP School Honor Roll has four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, which schools can achieve annually to mark their progress in creating equitable and high-quality AP programs.

Congratulations to the following KIPP Texas High Schools:

  • KIPP Austin Brave – Gold
  • KIPP Austin Collegiate – Platinum
  • KIPP CONNECT Preparatory – Gold
  • KIPP East End – Bronze
  • KIPP Generations Collegiate – Gold
  • KIPP Houston – Gold
  • KIPP Somos Collegiate – Platinum
  • KIPP University Prep – Bronze

By expanding access to AP coursework, our KIPP Texas schools encourage our KIPPsters to pursue challenging academic pathways that set them up for college success. The College Board’s Advanced Placement® (AP®) Program provides college-level courses across 38 subjects, each culminating in a rigorous exam. Through these courses, students develop critical thinking skills, learn to construct compelling arguments, and explore complex issues from multiple perspectives—skills that are invaluable for college and career readiness.

Research shows that students who score a three or higher on an AP Exam often experience greater academic success in college and are more likely to earn a degree than non-AP students. Taking AP courses demonstrates to college admissions officers that students have pursued the most challenging curriculum available to them, underscoring their readiness for higher education.

We are immensely proud of our Little and Big KIPPsters for their hard work, resilience, and dedication to growth, as well as the educators who inspire and support them daily. This AP Honor Roll recognition reflects our commitment to providing advanced placement programs that empower our KIPPsters and broaden access to higher education.
