We’ve reached that wonderful time of the year: Teacher Appreciation Week, running from May 5th to 9th. This is our moment to cheer on our incredible KIPP Texas teachers and honor the dedication, passion, and heart they bring to our 54 schools every single day.
Our teachers are truly the heartbeat of KIPP Texas. They don’t just lead classrooms—they walk hand-in-hand with our students on their learning journeys. They nurture, encourage, and uplift, giving our Little KIPPsters the confidence and tools they need to thrive in and beyond school.
A parent from KIPP Somos Primary in San Antonio shared this touching note of gratitude:
“Ms. Saenz has fostered a loving and nurturing environment for her students, and it shows. My daughter has learned so much in kindergarten. She loves going to school and learning. She loves helping her teacher. I can always count on Ms. Saenz to be there for any questions or concerns, or just to take good care of my daughter while she is at school. She is a great teacher! Thank you, Ms. Saenz, for all you do.”
These words reflect what so many families across our network feel. Our teachers are more than educators—they are mentors, caregivers, and champions of every child’s potential. With more than 77% of our educators identifying as Black, Latinx, or Hispanic, our students see themselves reflected in their role models—empowering them to believe in their potential and thrive in college and beyond.
