Held during the third full week of October each year, National School Bus Safety Week serves as an important opportunity to highlight the importance of safe practices in and around our school buses.
The KIPP Texas Public Schools Student Transportation Department is dedicated to providing free, safe, and reliable transportation to all of our students, ensuring they have access to the high-quality education they deserve. Our bus drivers and transportation department are essential members of the KIPP Texas Team & Family. Every year, they drive KIPPsters more than 1.5 million miles annually! 
Remember, school bus safety is for everyone! Below are a few tips from the American Safety Council to help keep our Team & Family safe on the bus.
- Flashing yellow lights mean the bus is about to make a stop. Please slow down and prepare to stop.
- Flashing red lights and a stop sign mean the bus is stopped and children may be entering or exiting the bus.
- Passing a stopped school bus is illegal and can result in steep fines.
- If you are traveling in the opposite direction of the stopped school bus, you are still required to stop if the road has fewer than four lanes.
- You should always drive cautiously near school buses.
