Offering athletics in schools is essential for fostering physical health and well-being among students, promoting an active lifestyle from an early age. Beyond fitness, sports teach valuable life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance, shaping well-rounded individuals prepared for challenges.

KIPP Journey Collegiate will offer a rigorous educational path focused on college and career readiness to prepare students for the world they will encounter. Throughout their time at KJC, students will engage in an academic course of study that is structured around three main pillars: rigorous, college-ready curriculum, 21st-century learning skills, and social justice and identity exploration.

Specific extracurricular programs offered will be driven by student interest and available resources. With that in mind, there will be a focus on athletics to foster teamwork, build school spirit, and reinforce school values, as listed above. Ideally, there will also be a program that will provide opportunities to promote student voices, such as poetry, spoken word, and debate, that will build over time.
