Tammy Butler
School Leader
"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character–that is the goal of true education." – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Tammy Butler has served in the education field for over two decades. She began her teaching career in Aldine ISD, and eventually became a founding ELA Teacher and later Assistant Principal of KIPP Voyage Academy for Girls. After serving as a Principal of a KIPP school in St. Louis, Missouri, Ms. Butler had the opportunity to become the School Leader at KIPP Legacy Preparatory.
She strongly believes that an excellent educational experience provides students with opportunities to discover their academic strengths and life’s passion. Ms. Butler works to ensure that students are able to have an active voice in the education they receive so that they can choose their life’s path.
When she is not working with her KIPP Legacy family of students, teachers, and families at KIPP Legacy, she enjoys spending time working out and creating memories with her mother, sister, and nephew.
