Anne Smead
School Leader
"Children have this amazing way of becoming exactly who we tell them they are. If we tell them they are strong, they become strong. If we tell them they are kind, they become kind. If we tell they are capable, they become capable..." - Amy Weatherly
Anne Smead is a native small town Texan who has chosen to chase excellence and champion equity through education. After her own high school experience moving from a public to private school, Ms. Smead realized the inequities that exist in education based on where you live. Graduating from Auburn University with a Bachelors of Arts in Public Administration and a Minor in Community and Civic Engagement, Ms. Smead entered the classroom as a high school Algebra 1 teacher in Selma, Alabama at Selma High School. Wanting to be closer to family, Ms. Smead made the move back to Texas, teaching high school math in Dallas ISD while earning her Masters of Arts in School Leadership from Southern Methodist University. Ms. Smead currently serves as Interim Principal at KIPP Pleasant Grove Leadership Academy, where she previously served as a founding fifth grade math teacher and teacher leader.
