STAAR testing is an important milestone in your Little KIPPster’s academic journey beginning in the third grade, and we want to ensure they feel confident and prepared. As testing season approaches, here are some helpful tips to set your child up for success:
Know the Testing Schedule: Stay informed about when your child’s STAAR tests are scheduled. Your school will provide testing dates and details—mark them on your calendar and plan ahead. This year’s testing schedule is listed below.
Establish a Consistent Routine: A well-rested student is a focused student! Help your Little KIPPster get 8-10 hours of sleep by setting a consistent bedtime routine. Encourage them to wind down by turning off electronics at least 30-60 minutes before bed for a more restful night.
Fuel Up with a Nutritious Breakfast: A balanced breakfast is essential for fueling the mind. Remember, all KIPP Texas Public Schools offer free breakfast. Check with your school for their breakfast schedule
Encourage a Growth Mindset: Remind your Little KIPPster that they can achieve great things! Encourage them to stay positive, take deep breaths, and tackle one question at a time. A confident mindset can make all the difference.
Arrive Early and Prepared: Arriving at school early allows time for preparation. Teachers will ensure students have all necessary supplies and are ready to begin the test confidently.
By following these tips, you can help ensure your Little KIPPster is ready to tackle STAAR testing confidently. Thank you for your partnership in supporting their success!
