What is Teacher Incentive Allotment: How KIPP Texas Uses TIA to Reward Top Educators

KIPP Texas Teacher Teaching Elementary Student

At KIPP Texas, we believe great teachers deserve great pay. That’s why we’re a Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) school system. This program isn’t just a bonus, it’s a pathway to a significantly higher overall earning potential, all while you stay right where you belong: in the classroom.

What is the Teacher Incentive Allotment?

TIA is a statewide program that rewards Texas’s best and brightest teachers. It lets districts like ours give our top educators special titles, such as Recognized, Exemplary, or Master teacher.

These titles come with a big financial benefit. Depending on your designation and the campus you teach at, TIA can add anywhere from $3,000 to over $32,000 to your yearly salary. Approximately 90% of the funds KIPP Texas receives through TIA goes directly toward our teachers’ paychecks.

How TIA Works at KIPP Texas

We’ve created a clear, simple system to help our teachers earn these valuable designations. We identify our top teachers based on two main categories:

  • Student Growth: How much your students learn and grow during the year.
  • Classroom Performance: The quality of your daily teaching, as seen through observations by our school leaders.

College preparation for every KIPPster is our priority, and our dedicated teachers play the largest role. Since we began our TIA program, we’ve had hundreds of our teachers earn TIA designations as they passionately invested in accelerating academic results for students and prepared all KIPPsters for college, career, and beyond. Their annual payments have ranged from $5,300 to over $28,000 on top of their base salary. It’s a powerful way to reward exemplary teaching and outstanding results for our Little KIPPsters.

Your Career, Your Future

Joining KIPP Texas isn’t just about finding a job; it’s about building a career where your hard work is truly valued and rewarded. TIA gives you a clear path to a higher earning potential and celebrates your achievements over your career.. This means you can:

  • Earn More for Excellent Teaching. We believe in paying for excellence every year.
  • Stay in the classroom. You don’t have to become an administrator to make more money. With TIA, you can keep doing what you love and still earn a competitive salary.
  • Invest in your life. The extra income from TIA can help you invest in your family or provide the financial security you’ve been planning for.
