Celebrating Robotics Triumphs at KIPP Austin Collegiate!

At KIPP Austin Collegiate, our robotics teams have achieved impressive milestones and gained widespread attention. The Collegiate’s Cardinal Robotics Program includes five teams: Steminists (all girls) and co-ed teams Deus ex Maquina, Hestia, Archytas, and Dinobyte, with students ranging from grades 9 to 12.

We’re thrilled to share their successes with our KIPP Texas Team and Family! Whether you’re new to robotics or not, our talented teams’ recent victories at the First Tech Challenge (FTC) competitions are truly worth celebrating.

Dinobyte recently secured the prestigious 1st place CONTROL award, a remarkable feat for our program!

This award recognizes their innovative use of sensors and software to overcome challenges in the field, showcasing their ingenuity and determination. As a result of their win, Dinobyte advanced to the semi-area championship tournament, marking a historic moment for our program.

Archytas secured the 2nd place MOTIVATE award, demonstrating their commitment to promoting STEM and robotics within our community. Their passion and enthusiasm have undoubtedly made a significant impact on and off the competition field. Archytas also found success at the semi-area championship on February 10, where they brought home a second award, 3rd place INNOVATE.

Hestia showcased consistent performance throughout the season, earning them a well-deserved spot in the semi-area championship. Hestia brought home 2nd place MOTIVATE at the championship on February 10. Their dedication and hard work have paid off, positioning them as formidable competitors in the league.

Deus ex Maquina exhibited remarkable growth and resilience, earning them the 3rd place MOTIVATE award. Their determination and perseverance have propelled them to new heights, setting the stage for even more extraordinary achievements in the future.

But the wins don’t stop there. Our all-female robotics team, the Steminists, achieved multiple firsts of their own. For the first time in our program’s history, they clinched the 1st place THINK Award, highlighting their exceptional journey through the engineering design process.

Additionally, the Steminists received the 2nd place INSPIRE award, the highest honor a team can earn at a tournament! This recognition speaks volumes about their exemplary teamwork, sportsmanship, and dedication to spreading STEM awareness. Winning this award allowed the Steminists to advance directly to the area championship on February 24 in Round Rock, Texas. This is the first time our teams have advanced past a semi-area championship!

As we celebrate these incredible accomplishments, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our students, coaches, mentors, and supporters for their unwavering dedication and passion for robotics. Together, we continue to inspire and empower the next generation of STEM leaders.

Here’s to many more victories ahead!
