Jamaal Henry joined KIPP Houston Public Schools in 2010, where he served as the sixth and eighth grade social studies teacher and grade level chair at KIPP Spirit College Prep. Jamaal was later the founding assistant principal at KIPP Northeast College Preparatory. Prior to joining KIPP, he served as a sixth grade reading, language arts, and social studies teacher at Mata Intermediate in the Alief Independent School District. Jamaal has also worked with the Upward Bound Trio Program and The Southern Education Foundation. Jamaal is a native of Marrero, Louisiana. He attended Texas Southern University, where he received his B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies. Jamaal married his wife Shari O. Brown-Henry in January 2011. Together, they have one son Jamaal “Will” Henry II, and two daughters Giselle and Sheri. He dedicates all of his free time to his wife, kids, siblings, close family, and friends.
