The mission of KIPP SHINE Prep is to nurture and strengthen students’ creativity, knowledge, character and thinking skills, preparing them to excel academically, physically, and socially in the nation’s finest secondary schools, colleges and in life. With this mission as its guiding light, SHINE opened its doors to 125 Pre-Kinder 4 students and families from across Houston in 2004. As the first primary school in the KIPP network, SHINE grew each year by adding one additional grade level and currently serves 875 SHINEsters in Pre-Kinder 3 through fourth grade. KIPP SHINE Prep was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. Additionally, in 2018, our first class of SHINEsters graduated from high school and began college. We are extremely proud of the accomplishment of all of our SHINEsters and look forward to continued success and academic achievement in the years to come.
