What You Need to Know to Start the 2021-2022 School Year

100% In-Person Learning

We are eager to welcome all of our students back to in-person learning in the fall. At KIPP Texas Public Schools, we strongly believe that in-person learning is the best option for our students. Because Texas lawmakers did not pass a bill allowing for virtual learning for schools, we will fully focus our efforts and energy on providing a safe, equitable, and joyful environment for all students.

Restructured School Day Schedule

The KIPP Texas school day for the 2021-22 school year will be an eight hour and 15-minute school day with Fridays being a student early release day. This restructured schedule will provide KIPPsters ample instructional time in core content areas, which remains one of our top priorities.

Masks

Although Governor Abbot’s Executive Order limiting public schools from requiring masks is in effect, for the health and safety of our KIPPsters, Big and Little, we recommend that you continue to wear masks when in KIPP schools and offices. We recommend this practice, alongside our other safety procedures, including health screenings, social distancing, increased hand-washing/sanitizing, and the immediate pickup of sick children. Together, we can help keep our communities safe and healthy!

Summer Well Wishes

Have a happy, safe and healthy summer. We miss you and look forward to seeing everyone in-person on August 16!
