At KIPP Poder Academy, we are dedicated to creating a positive learning environment with the rigorous college preparatory curriculum and character education necessary so that our students grow to be successful, confident leaders in their lives, their community, and the world.

In addition to our rigorous academic program, we offer a number of electives, including journalism, Mexican-American Studies, art, choir, and percussion ensemble. Students also venture outside the classroom once a quarter for field trips, which include visits to universities and museums.

Nicole Winsett

School Leader

Welcome to KIPP Poder Academy, where our experienced and dedicated staff work tenaciously to ensure that students not only excel with a rigorous academic curriculum, but also develop the academic and behavioral habits and character that will put them on a path to a choice-filled life.

Nicole Winsett has called San Antonio home for the past five years as an instructional coach supporting first and second-year teachers as a staff member at Teach For America. As a coach and manager, Mrs. Winsett focused on professional development for math, science, and special education teachers across a variety of districts, campuses, and grade levels in San Antonio. Prior to moving to the River City, Mrs. Winsett taught in the Houston Independent School District as a seventh and eighth grade math and special education teacher as a Teach For America corps member. She earned her degree in Public Relations from The University of Texas at Austin and aspires to one day be considered a fully converted Texan. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, son and dog, cheering on the Texas Longhorns (especially football!), eating cheese, dancing, and traveling to new places.
