Meet Your School Leader
YaRonda McDonald, Principal of KIPP TRUTH Academy, brings with her over 20 years of experience in education, including 15 years in transformative leadership roles dedicated to advancing student achievement, equity, and systemic improvement.
Prior to joining KIPP TRUTH, Ms. McDonald most recently led Winfree Academy Charter School in North Richland Hills as Principal. There, she successfully spearheaded turnaround efforts that elevated the campus accountability rating from an F to a B in just one year. Her success was rooted in building strong leadership teams, implementing research-based instructional strategies, and launching innovative student engagement practices.
Ms. McDonald also served at the district level as an Instructional Leader supporting 17 Transformation and Innovation schools. In this role, she coached Assistant Principals, Instructional Coaches, and Teacher Leaders in high-impact instructional practices, curriculum alignment, effective PLCs, and data-driven decision-making—all designed to accelerate student outcomes and meet accountability goals.
For nearly a decade, she served as Assistant Principal at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Magnet Center, where she supported six distinct magnet schools. During her tenure, she led initiatives that improved academic achievement and college readiness through focused leadership development, strategic instructional systems, and targeted coaching. She also played a key role in designing and launching an interdisciplinary humanities program that significantly increased student mastery on STAAR EOC exams.
As the leader of KIPP TRUTH Academy, Ms. McDonald is committed to building on the school’s strong foundation and working collaboratively with students, staff, families, and the broader school community to ensure every scholar thrives. Her leadership philosophy is centered on cultivating a culture of excellence through shared leadership, strategic systems of support, targeted coaching, meaningful professional development, and data-informed decisions that drive results.
