KIPP TRUTH Academy opened in 2003, and since then, we’ve grown to educate more students, embrace a more diverse student population, serve a larger population of Special Education students, and develop a strong culture team. Our team works diligently to provide our KIPPsters with a rigorous academic experience that nurtures and strengthens their character. We strive to prepare KIPPsters to be successful in high school, college, and career.

Meet Your School Leader

La’Qoya Cooper
Laqoya.Cooper@kipptexas.org

Growing up in a small rural town, La’Qoya U. Cooper excelled academically but became aware of educational inequities through her college experiences. This inspired her passion for working in education. After graduating from Dillard University, she worked as an academic advisor and English language arts teacher in the KIPP New Orleans School System. Moving to Texas, she continued teaching, earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from SMU, and became an instructional leader and assistant principal in Irving ISD. Her experiences have reinforced her belief that all students deserve the best education regardless of their background.
