KIPP Intrepid develops self-aware, self-directed, socially adept learners by providing an individualized learning environment, project-based learning experiences, and integrated character development. Our students have opportunities to practice and develop their academic and behavioral skills. They acquire the character needed to succeed in college and life by participating in thoughtfully designed learning. We understand that parents and community partners are crucial to the success of our students, and we welcome their active support and participation in the life of our school.

Shelia McDaniels

Born and raised in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, Mrs. McDaniels brings a deep passion for education, a strong STEM foundation, and a steadfast commitment to student achievement.

A proud HBCU graduate, Mrs. McDaniels holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science with a minor in Chemistry from Paine College in Georgia, and later earned a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University. Her unique path led her to transition into education in 2009, beginning her teaching career as a mathematics teacher at T.W. Josey High School in Augusta, Georgia. After relocating to Texas, she continued serving students and families at Pasadena High School, where she earned her Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.

Prior to leading at Intrepid, Mrs. McDaniels most served as the principal of KIPP 3D Academy, where she led for three impactful years—driving academic growth, strengthening school culture, and fostering meaningful family partnerships.

Mrs. McDaniels is passionate about teaching, motivating, and inspiring students while exposing them to new opportunities in education. She is committed to creating a joyful, rigorous, and inclusive learning environment where every child thrives and every voice is heard.
