KIPP Explore Academy

Mayra Gonzalez-Moreno started her KIPP Texas journey in the East End Community at KIPP Explore Academy in 2010 as a Kindergarten Teaching Fellow teaching the Class of 2023. Since joining the Explore team, Ms. Gonzalez-Moreno has played multiple roles. From helping lead her Kindergarten team as a grade level chair, BRIGHT values chair, coaching first-year teachers as a relay fellow advisor, dean of instruction, assistant principal, and principal-in-residence. Before joining the KIPP Explore Team and Family, Ms. Gonzalez-Moreno worked in special education for Houston ISD at De Zavala Elementary.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston-Downtown and her Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education from Houston RELAY Graduate School of Education. Ms.Gonzalez-Moreno is excited to lead KIPP Explore Academy as the new school leader in the East End Community. She truly enjoys teaching, learning daily, and giving back to her home community.
