Cassandra Cotman is originally from Detroit, Michigan, where she taught for 13 years in the Detroit Public School System. Ms. Cotman received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Florida Memorial University in Miami, Florida, and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Detroit - Mercy. Mrs. Cotman has completed post-graduate hours as a Reading Specialist and a Principal Certification Program as well. Ms. Cotman relocated to Houston and joined KIPP ZENITH Academy as a founding first-grade teacher and grade-level chairperson. She has served the KIPP ZENITH team and family as the RTI interventionist, testing coordinator, fourth grade teacher-leader for KIPP Houston Public Schools and Dean of English Language Arts. It is with great aspirations and humility that Ms. Cotman continues as the school leader of KIPP ZENITH Academy. She is a wife and mother of three. Ms. Cotman loves spending quality time with her family and friends, and she enjoys reading, dancing, cooking, roller-skating and listening to live music.
