KIPP Austin Comunidad opened its doors in 2010. Comunidad was chosen as a name because a strong TEAM always beats the impact an individual can make. The Latin root of “community” means “together in deliberate action.” Our school mascot is the honeybee. Honeybees work tirelessly in a highly functioning community (a hive) to produce a nutritious and delicious substance: honey. Like honeybees, our team works tirelessly to create knowledge. Knowledge is power!

Meet Your School Leader
Asia Ubani serves as the School Leader of KIPP Austin Comunidad, bringing a decade of experience in education and a deep commitment to creating schools where students experience academic excellence, joy, belonging, and opportunity.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Ubani has served in a variety of instructional and leadership roles, including Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal-in-Residence, Director of Teacher Development, and Principal. She brings a strong instructional foundation and proven leadership in school turnaround work. Her leadership focuses on strengthening instruction, developing educators, building effective systems, and cultivating a positive school culture that accelerates student achievement.
Mrs. Ubani’s leadership is grounded in the belief that every child deserves access to excellent instruction, caring adults, and a school community that recognizes their potential and challenges them to achieve at the highest levels.
As School Leader of KIPP Austin Comunidad, Mrs. Ubani is passionate about partnering with students, families, and staff to build a joyful, academically excellent school where Honey Bees are known, loved, challenged, and prepared to pursue their dreams.
