Established in 1998, the Challenge Index is the oldest high school ranking system in the country. Unlike other rankings, it does not rely on test scores, which often reflect student family income rather than school quality. Additionally, it is the only list comparing private and public schools.
This year’s Challenge Index list includes just charters, ranked as usual by the number of AP, IB, and Cambridge tests divided by the graduating class size. The list includes 141 charters that give enough tests to make the list.
Congratulations to our schools for being ranked among the top charter high schools in Texas and the nation!
